Songkhla: "Pharadon" reveals that the restoration of Songkhla has been completed as planned. Mr. Paradorn Prisnanantakul, Acting Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, announced the successful progress in the restoration and cleanup of Songkhla province following severe flooding. He stated that the National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command (Forward Operating Base) has confirmed that operations are on track. The restoration efforts have been organized into four zones, each managed by different entities: Zone 1 by the Military Development Command, Royal Thai Armed Forces; Zone 2 by the Royal Thai Army (4th Army Area); Zone 3 by the Ministry of Interior; and Zone 4 by the Ministry of Transport. The local civil society has also actively participated in these efforts.
According to Thai News Agency, by the night of December 13th, over 118,000 tons of waste had been cleared, and more than 394 kilometers of roads had been cleaned. This has allowed the residents of Songkhla to resume their normal daily activities.
Mr. Paradorn expressed gratitude towards all involved parties, including government agencies, the military, civil society, and local residents, for their collaborative efforts in the restoration of Songkhla province. He highlighted plans for economic recovery through Cabinet-approved measures, alongside a comprehensive promotion of tourism. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will aid in publicizing and creating incentives to ensure that Hat Yai and Songkhla province rapidly and sustainably regain their status as key tourist and economic centers in the South.
