Bangkok: Chaiyanok stands by his mother but doesn't take sides, insisting that no one is above the law. Chaiyanok clarifies after being sued for dereliction of duty regarding his mother's posting of civil registration information, stating it does not fall under the PDPA (Personal Data Protection Act) according to the law. He emphasizes that he performed his duties fully and is not worried about being perceived as a political game leading up to the election.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chaiyanok Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society, addressed the lawsuit against him for alleged dereliction of duty after his mother, Mrs. Karuna Chidchob, disseminated another person's civil registration information online. He affirmed that, unless it's a political maneuver, he sympathizes with the complainant. He admitted that he initially thought it might constitute an offense, but later received clarification from the Director of the Personal Data Protection Board that he could not be prosecuted under Section 157.
Mr. Chaiyanok emphasized that he had conducted a thorough investigation and had never taken sides, even with family members. He stated that the case did not fall under the PDPA (Personal Data Protection Act), but if other offenses were committed, such as defamation, legal action could be taken.
Regarding the complaints filed close to the election, Mr. Chaiyanok stated that he is not worried. If it's a political game, ultimately the perpetrators will have to face the consequences. He affirmed that he will continue to crack down on scammers and will not stop his duty.
Meanwhile, Mr. Chaiyanok revealed that he had spoken with his mother, who was worried about the potential impact on her son's career and political standing. However, he emphasized to his mother that if he was found guilty, the law would take its course, and asked her not to worry too much, because no one is above the law.
