Bangkok: "Yotchanan's sister" pleads for an end to the use of past personal relationships to discredit her brother. Chayapa, the sister of Yotchanan, pleaded for an end to the discrediting of her brother by using his past relationship to attack politics. She asked that his emotional pain not be used against him, lamenting that past mistakes were bad enough.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Chayapa Wongswasdi, sister of Mr. Yotsanun Wongswasdi, the Pheu Thai Party's prospective prime ministerial candidate, clarified the situation regarding the use of her past personal relationship, which ended completely more than five years ago due to differing viewpoints, to attack and discredit her brother, Mr. Yotsanun. She stated that this was highly inappropriate and affirmed with her honor and dignity that her family has no political connections whatsoever between the two countries, and certainly never received any benefits of any kind from the past marriage. She also affirmed that her family are patriotic Thais.
Ms. Chayapa also stated that she cannot go back and change the past, and therefore she would like to request that people refrain from disseminating or distorting any information that is untrue. She also asked that political opinions be based on facts, honesty, and respect for human dignity.
Ms. Chayapa also requested that her past trauma not be used for political attacks, as the regret from past mistakes is already painful enough. She urged the Thai people to exercise discretion when listening to news and not to be misled by ill-intentioned individuals seeking to exploit the situation for political attacks and discrediting Mr. Yoschanan.
