Bangkok: Mr. Yotsanan Wongsawat, the Pheu Thai Party's prime ministerial candidate, along with Mr. Julaphan Amornvivat, the party leader and prime ministerial candidate, emphasized the significance of public opinion polls in shaping their election strategies. According to Thai News Agency, despite Suan Dusit Poll placing the Pheu Thai Party in second place nationwide, the latest NIDA poll in Bangkok ranks Mr. Yotsanan at number 10. Mr. Julaphan asserted that while opinion polls are a factor for consideration, they do not dictate the final outcome, which will ultimately be decided by the electorate on election day. He stressed the importance of engaging with the public, particularly in Bangkok, where policies such as the 20-baht flat fare for the BTS Skytrain and the Baan Phua Thai housing program resonate with residents. With nearly 50% of the population still undecided according to polls, Mr. Julaphan sees an opportunity for political parties, including Pheu Thai, to tailor policies addressing the needs o f Bangkok's citizens. The recent Suan Dusit Poll results, which place Pheu Thai in second place, are seen as encouraging, especially following Mr. Yotsanan's introduction. The party aims to win public trust by addressing key issues through its policies. Mr. Yotsanan highlighted the importance of being receptive to poll feedback, stating that both positive and negative feedback from the polls will drive the party to perform to its fullest potential. Mr. Yotsanan further elaborated on the party's strategy to enhance popularity, emphasizing the importance of understanding the unique challenges faced by different districts and regions. He underscored the need for clear communication about the country's direction, urging unity in the pursuit of national progress. As Thailand approaches the 2026 election, he believes this election represents a critical juncture for the country and advocates for swift change to address pressing issues.
