Samut prakan: Mr. Nattapong Ruangpanyawut, leader of the People's Party, along with parliamentary candidates, campaigned in Samut Prakan, emphasizing policies to combat pollution and reform the legal system with the goal of fully restoring and caring for affected areas. They traveled in a parade float from Pak Nam Market to Phra Pradaeng District, concluding at Lan Sai Night Market.
According to Thai News Agency, the People's Party has fielded candidates in all 8 constituencies of Samut Prakan province. The candidates are Panida Mongkolsawas, Constituency 1 (No. 7); Rachanok Sukprasert, Constituency 2 (No. 7); Pichai Chaengcharanyawong, Constituency 3 (No. 4); Chanasit Yodchim, Constituency 4 (No. 2); Nittaya Meesri, Constituency 5 (No. 11); Veerapat Kantha, Constituency 6 (No. 7); Boonlert Saengphan, Constituency 7 (No. 8); and Thepparit Phasi, Constituency 8 (No. 9).
Mr. Nattapong and other parliamentary candidates expressed gratitude to the public for their warm reception and encouragement during the election campaign. He listened to the problems raised by the people and outlined the policies that the People's Party is prepared to implement if elected, aiming to alleviate the suffering in the country's key industrial cities.
The campaign highlighted the country's lack of a Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (PRTR), which hampers the government's ability to have clear information on pollutants emitted by factories. This fragmented regulatory approach leads to reactionary problem-solving rather than prevention and fails to assess the pollution carrying capacity of each area, resulting in ongoing public health risks.
Mr. Nattapong reiterated his commitment to reforming the industrial pollution control system if entrusted with forming a government. His approach includes enacting legislation for public disclosure of pollution data, defining pollution zones, linking factory data, and investing in waste management systems. The goal is to transform waste into assets and address the disorganized pollution control infrastructure.
