Bus Terminal Authority Urges Early Ticket Booking for February 2026 Elections

Bangkok: The Bus Terminal Authority (BTA) is urging the public to book their travel tickets in advance for the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for February 8, 2026. The BTA has ensured that all necessary arrangements, including buses, staff, and bus stations, are in place to provide a convenient and safe travel experience for voters.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Atthawit Rakchamroon, Managing Director of the Transport Company Limited (BKS), stated that comprehensive preparations have been made to facilitate citizens' travel as they return to exercise their voting rights. BKS expects a gradual increase in passengers traveling from Bangkok to various provinces from February 6-7, 2026, with an estimated 130,000 passengers per day on round-trip journeys. This will involve approximately 7,000 bus trips per day, operated by BKS and its partners. For the return journeys on February 8-9, 2026, an average of 100,000 passengers per day is anticipated, utilizing around 6,000 bus trips daily.

To prevent passengers from being stranded, BKS has coordinated with operators to provide about 350 additional non-scheduled buses on various routes. Passengers who plan to travel during the election period are encouraged to book tickets in advance through the BKS website, the E-ticket application, their Facebook page, Line, BKS ticket counters nationwide, or by contacting them via phone.

Additionally, the BTA has directed all supervising units to maintain strict safety protocols. This includes ensuring buses and their equipment are ready for service, verifying that drivers are well-rested, conducting drug and alcohol tests with zero tolerance for blood alcohol content, and enforcing adherence to traffic laws. These measures aim to ensure safety and foster public confidence in using public transportation during the election period.
