Bangkok Launches Chinese Language Initiative to Enhance Educational Skills

Bangkok: Bangkok Metropolitan Administration has launched the Interested Chinese Class @ DONMUANG project, aiming to strengthen Chinese language skills among students. Mr. Thaiwut Khankaew, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, led the opening ceremony for the fiscal year 2026. The initiative aligns with Bangkok's policy to advance education by building essential language skills, which are crucial for learning, communication, and future careers. Recognizing Chinese as a key international language in economics and international cooperation, the project seeks to enable students to fully harness their potential in their academic pursuits. According to Thai News Agency, the Interested Chinese Class @ DONMUANG project is a collaborative effort involving the Confucius Institute, the Maritime Silk Road, and Phranakhon Rajabhat University. The program emphasizes fostering a positive attitude towards learning Chinese while incorporating an understanding of native-speaking culture and its application in daily life. The project took place across five schools under the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration: Pracha Uthit School, Wat Weluwanaram School, Bamrung Rawiwan Wittaya School, Wat Don Mueang School, and Prem Pracha School. A total of 585 students participated, gaining enhanced foreign language skills to better prepare them for future educational and career opportunities.
