Thailand’s Election Commission Unveils Advance Voting Ballot Envelope Sample

Bangkok: The Election Commission of Thailand (ECT) has revealed a sample of the advance voting ballot envelope as part of the preparations for the upcoming elections. This sample is crucial for voters who are participating in advance voting for Members of Parliament outside their constituencies.

According to Thai News Agency, the ECT released the ballot envelope sample, known as Form S.S. 5/2, on February 1st. When voters arrive at the polling station, they will receive ballots for both the constituency and party-list systems, along with the ballot envelope. The polling station committee will fill out the province, constituency, and election code on the envelope before returning the ballot, envelope, and identification documents to voters for casting their vote.

Voters are urged to ensure that the information on the ballot envelope is accurate, including the province, constituency, and four-digit voting code. If any discrepancies are found, voters should immediately inform the polling station officials to make corrections. This step is essential for ensuring that the ballot envelope is accurately returned to the voter's constituency. It is important to note that voters will not receive ballot envelopes for advance voting within their constituencies.

The envelope features several critical details. On the front, it displays the province name, electoral district, and spaces for a four-digit electoral district code, which voters can find on the registration list. The back of the envelope includes space for the polling station official's signature, sealed with an adhesive ribbon, a clear plastic strip, and an area for a barcode.

For those voting at a central polling station outside their district, it is necessary to check their name on the voter registration list upon arrival and prepare identification such as a national ID card or other government-issued documents. Voters should present their identification to election officials, follow the outlined procedures, and receive the pre-filled ballots and envelopes. After marking the ballots, voters must fold them and place them in the envelopes, which are then verified and sealed by election officials. Voters are required to personally place the envelopes into the ballot box.
