Voters Turn Out in Large Numbers for Referendum at Bangkok’s Sports Complex 2

Bangkok: Crowds flocked to the Sports Complex 2 to cast their votes in a referendum, despite being outside their designated polling stations.

According to Thai News Agency, the Sports Complex 2 was bustling with over 21,000 registered voters. The voting process was organized systematically, allowing individuals to complete their voting in just 5 minutes. Reporters detailed the atmosphere at the absentee voting site located in Din Daeng district, Bangkok's District 6, at the Bangkok Youth Center (Thai-Japanese), from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Eligible voters from across the country, who had registered in advance, gathered to participate in the referendum.

At the entrance of the venue, QR codes were available for citizens to verify their names on the voter registration list for out-of-district referendums, identifying which set they belonged to, ranging from set 1 to set 26. A total of 21,003 individuals registered to vote at this location, with a significant turnout observed.

The voting process was efficiently managed, with provinces divided into alphabetical categories based on numerical order. Voters experienced minimal waiting times, as they quickly checked their number, queued, signed in, had their ID checked, and cast their vote, all typically completed in under 5 minutes.

Reporters also noted a large influx of voters at polling stations 3, which covered areas such as Chanthaburi, Chachoengsao, Chonburi, Chainat, and Chaiyaphum, with voter numbers ranging from 1609 to 2424. Queuing was necessary at these stations to maintain order. Staff and police officers were present to ensure a smooth voting process, contributing to an overall orderly atmosphere.
