Bangkok: "Sirikanya" has called on citizens to actively participate in observing the ongoing elections and referendums. Sirikanya expressed relief at the smooth conduct of the general election and referendum and mentioned that the results of today's efforts would be known soon. She is scheduled to conduct a post-election planning meeting today to discuss further actions. Acknowledging the absence of observers in every district, she urged everyone to assist in monitoring the process to prevent any errors.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Sirikanya Tansakul arrived at polling station number 5, Ban Rojana, Samsen Nai Subdistrict, Phaya Thai District, located inside Soi Intamara 3, to cast her vote in both the general election and the referendum. After casting her vote, she spoke with election officials and noted that approximately 40% of voter turnout had already been achieved at that station, even though only half the day had passed. She considered this a positive indicator and encouraged citizens who had not yet voted to do so before the 5:00 PM deadline.
The election and referendum process reportedly proceeded without issues. Ms. Sirikanya confirmed verifying information through the Election Commission's website, ensuring that polling stations and voter registration numbers for both the general election and the referendum were consistent, facilitating a smooth and efficient process.
Initial reports of irregularities at polling stations were addressed, such as incomplete notices on bulletin boards, which have since been corrected. Ms. Sirikanya noted the cooperation of polling station staff in resolving these matters.
Reflecting on the election day, Ms. Sirikanya felt a sense of relief, considering it a culmination of hard work and anticipating the vote count results. She expressed optimism for a record-breaking voter turnout exceeding 75%, hoping for a satisfactory outcome and increased public awareness of voting rights.
Regarding observer arrangements for the vote counting process, Ms. Sirikanya acknowledged efforts to recruit observers, though it was not feasible to cover every polling station. She invited residents near polling stations to help monitor the process to safeguard votes and prevent any loss, emphasizing that any discrepancies were likely unintentional errors.
On the topic of post-election alliances with other parties, Ms. Sirikanya indicated that this responsibility lies with the executive team. A joint meeting is planned before the polls close to discuss and strategize on potential alliances and next steps.
