Bangkok: The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) distributed dates to the public, religious leaders, and mosques in the southern border provinces. The initiative, which took place during the 2026 Ramadan period, reached 100 mosques and was aimed at fostering community relations.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Methaphat Sunthornwaraphas, Director of the Public Relations Center at SRT, announced the community relations activity organized from February 15-17, 2026. The SRT, together with the State Railway of Thailand Employees' Union and the Southern Muslim Railway Club, distributed dates to residents, religious leaders, and mosques from Chana to Suai Kolok. This endeavor was part of a broader effort to encourage community participation in safeguarding railway lines and SRT assets, aligning with SRT's policy of supporting socially beneficial activities.
Mr. Methaphat highlighted that the community relations project involved the distribution of supplies and dates. A handover ceremony was held, during which meetings with religious leaders and residents living along the railway lines were conducted. This marks the 18th year that the SRT has engaged in such activities, receiving cooperation from religious leaders and the public in monitoring railway lines and ensuring the safety of employees. The initiative also aims to build confidence in the safety of train users and strengthen the relationship between the community and SRT, contributing to harmonious cohabitation.
