Bangkok: Delighted by the influx of foreign tourists to Thailand, generating nearly 300 billion baht in revenue. The government is pleased with the overall tourism situation from January 1 to February 22, 2026. Nearly 6 million foreign tourists visited Thailand, generating almost 300 billion baht in revenue. China, Malaysia, Russia, India, and South Korea were the top destinations for tourists, in that order.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Airin Phanrit, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that the government is pleased with the overall tourism situation from January 1st to February 22nd, 2026. Thailand received a total of 5,947,434 foreign tourists, generating approximately 293,119 million baht in revenue from their spending. The top five countries with the highest number of tourists were China (969,505), Malaysia (573,323), Russia (457,250), India (376,738), and South Korea (283,623).

Ms. Airin stated that during the past week (February 16-22, 2026), there were a total of 879,587 foreign tourists, a decrease of 2,969 people or 0.34% from the previous week. This averaged to 125,655 foreign tourists entering Thailand per day. Malaysian and Russian tourists saw increases of 33.02% and 7.57% respectively compared to the previous week, driven by school holidays. Malaysian tourists, in particular, reached 110,000, the highest in the past eight weeks, representing a 33.02% increase from the previous week. Meanwhile, South Korean, Indian, and Chinese tourists decreased by 18.19%, 10.78%, and 0.68% respectively compared to the previous week. Chinese tourists are expected to delay their trips as the end of their domestic holidays approaches. However, tourist arrivals still reached over 200,000 people, with the top five nationalities of foreign tourists being: China (199,078), Malaysia (111,581), Russia (60,442), India (42,893), and South Korea (34,318).

Ms. Airin further mentioned expectations for the upcoming week (February 23 - March 1, 2026), predicting the number of foreign tourists to remain stable. This is driven by factors such as stimulating tourism from the Chinese market, changing travel behavior of Chinese tourists who are shifting their destinations from Japan to South Korea and ASEAN countries, measures to promote Thailand's safety image (Trusted Thailand), government Ease of Traveling measures that enhance convenience for travelers to Thailand, the exemption from the Immigration Form 6, and encouragement for airlines to increase the number of flights.
