Guangdong Plans Synergy Between Manufacturing and Service Sectors by 2026

Guangdong: Guangdong Province aims to develop greater synergy between the manufacturing and service sectors by 2026, as highlighted during a provincial-level high-quality development conference held on February 24, the first working day of the Year of the Horse. The Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Guangdong Provincial People's Government emphasized the need for synergy and discussed strategies for enhancing high-quality development, creating competitive strengths, and setting a strong foundation for the 15th Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development (2026-2030). The conference featured speeches by notable figures including Huang Kunming, General Secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, and Meng Fanli, Chief Executive of the Guangdong Provincial People's Government.

According to Thai News Agency, Huang Kunming underscored the importance of coordinated development between the manufacturing and service sectors in adapting to industrial trends and upgrading the industrial structure. Guangdong seeks to evolve from a large-scale manufacturing base into a robust industrial province by integrating these sectors and establishing a modern industrial system. The province aims to utilize digital and intelligent technologies along with abundant information resources to seize opportunities and lead the construction of this system.

Huang Kunming emphasized the commitment to strengthening the real economy by prioritizing the manufacturing sector and developing efficient service sectors. The integration of artificial intelligence technology is expected to enhance the synergy between these sectors, boosting Guangdong's competitiveness in "advanced manufacturing + modern services." He also highlighted the need to encourage micro-enterprises, nurture ecologically-oriented leading enterprises, and support their growth into integrated leaders capable of offering comprehensive solutions.

Additionally, focus will be given to 'pioneer organizations' that leverage specialized technologies to produce distinctive products and become champions in specialized manufacturing and service sectors. Guangdong will also nurture hub platforms to promote collaboration between the manufacturing and service sectors.

The province aims to foster joint research and development in core technologies and organizational model innovations to drive scientific and technological advancement across all industries. Guangdong plans to develop a high-level talent center in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area and implement an action plan to attract a million people, ensuring a high-quality workforce to maintain its leadership in sectoral development. The province will also expand its openness to global resources, strengthening the 'Guangdong Manufacturing' and 'Guangdong Service' brands while attracting international resources and expanding into global markets.

Ke Jixin, Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology, provided insights and suggestions for Guangdong's operations during the conference. Key officials from various regions and representatives from state-owned enterprises and provincial institutions presented strategies for sectoral synergy and the construction of a modern industrial system, proposing localized work plans and policy measures.
