Bangkok: The Department of Land Transport is set to introduce a One Stop Service center dedicated to the registration of hired vehicles through a mobile application. This initiative will be operational from March 2 to 31, 2026, inclusive of public holidays.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Sorapong Paitoonpong, Director-General of the Department of Land Transport, announced that the department is expediting the registration process for vehicles used for hire via applications. This move aims to ensure adherence to legal requirements and the regulations set by the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA), which will be enforced starting March 31, 2026.
The Director-General emphasized that the department has implemented several measures to streamline the registration of public motorcycles (Type 17) and taxis (Type 18) for legal passenger transport services through applications. These measures include the establishment of a One-Stop Service center at the Vehicle Inspection Building (Building 4), Bangkok Metropolitan Area 5 Transport Office in Chatuchak. This center will provide comprehensive services ranging from registration and approval to vehicle inspection, document verification, and vehicle type change registration, along with any necessary fee and tax payments. The service will be accessible from March 2 to 31, 2026, from 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM, or until all processes are completed each day.
The department also advises service providers to either bring their vehicles for registration individually or, if preferred, organize a group registration by scheduling an appointment in advance for a more efficient process. Furthermore, provincial transport offices across the nation that register public motorcycles and taxis are instructed to maintain consistent registration practices.
For further information or inquiries about the registration process, individuals can contact the Department of Land Transport hotline at 1584, which is available 24/7.
