Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, maneuvered around questions from the press regarding the potential exclusion of the Klaatham Party from the government. Despite swirling rumors about a deal to secure 292 votes, he maintained that no official announcements had been made.
According to Thai News Agency, Anutin returned to Government House after having lunch at a preferred spot in the Sriyan area. Upon arrival, he visited the press room, known colloquially as "Rang Nak Krachok," and enjoyed some kanom krok and preserved guava. When questioned about the Election Commission's certification of 396 constituency MPs, Anutin clarified that the matter was not directly related to the government. However, he emphasized the importance of political parties ensuring their MPs prepare necessary documents and report to Parliament punctually. Regarding the scheduling of Parliament sessions, he noted it was Parliament's responsibility.
Further inquiries about his previous statements on swiftly forming a government following official election results were met with deflection, as Anutin invited reporters to partake in the Thai dessert, Khanom Krok. When probed about the Klaatham Party's role in a potential coalition, Anutin remained silent, choosing to snack on Khanom Khrok before departing to the Thai Khu Fah building.
When asked if 292 votes would suffice for government formation, Anutin reiterated that no announcements had been made. Addressing the urgency of forming a government post-Election Commission certification, he confirmed that all processes were proceeding methodically, including the certification of MPs, Parliament's opening ceremony, the Speaker of Parliament's election, the Prime Minister's vote, and subsequent cabinet appointments.
Regarding the strategy of forming a government team in advance, Anutin acknowledged there were multiple approaches. In response to whether the Prime Minister's decisive work style would persist, Anutin simply stated, "We are ready," before returning to Government House.
