Attakorn Confirms Kla Tham Party’s Stance Amid Government Speculation

Bangkok: Attakorn Sirilatthayakorn, Member of Parliament for Chachoengsao Constituency 2 of the Kla Tham Party, addressed questions about the party's political direction after receiving his certificate from the Election Commission. He emphasized that Kla Tham maintains a clear stance and is not currently part of the opposition.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Attakorn mentioned that discussions with Captain Thamanat Phromphao, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, were centered on work-related matters following Thamanat's return from Finland. Mr. Attakorn reiterated that decisions regarding joining the government depend on the Prime Minister, and that the party is prepared to take on roles that drive progress.

Mr. Attakorn stated that the Kla Tham Party, which secured 56 constituencies, remains committed to its principles and is focused on what benefits the country. He dismissed rumors of party defections and emphasized the unity and support within Kla Tham. He also addressed the Pheu Thai Party's objections to election results in Chachoengsao, affirming Kla Tham's strong mandate from the local electorate.

On the matter of Kla Tham's absence from the recent cabinet list, Mr. Attakorn indicated that negotiations are handled by senior party figures. He expressed confidence in the party's ability to work effectively in any political position. Mr. Attakorn deflected rumors of Kla Tham proposing a competing government and stated that the party's direction would unfold over time.

Regarding potential challenges within the party, Mr. Attakorn reiterated his confidence in the unity of Kla Tham's MPs. He further commented on the role of the Ministry of Agriculture, suggesting that continuity in leadership would benefit farmers. Mr. Attakorn concluded by expressing readiness to cooperate with party leaders in any government negotiations.
