Bangkok: The government has instructed officials to closely monitor and assist tourists affected by the situation in the Middle East, revealing that over 4,000 tourists have already been helped. Five stringent measures are being implemented to ensure safety and restore confidence in Thai tourism.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Airin Phanrit, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that the Ministry of Tourism and Sports has disclosed progress in caring for and facilitating foreign tourists affected by the unrest in the Middle East. She stated that the government, through the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, has been closely cooperating with relevant agencies to ensure the safety of tourists and maintain confidence in Thailand's tourism image.
As a result of the proactive efforts of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports between February 28 and March 10, 2026, a cumulative total of 4,525 affected foreign tourists have been facilitated and contacted through three main channels: The Tourist Assistance Centers (TACs) located in five major airports-Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, Chiang Mai, Phuket, and Krabi-have coordinated and facilitated assistance for a total of 2,833 tourists. The Tourism Crisis Monitoring Center (TCMC) coordinated responses to 918 cases via the 1672 hotline, and the Provincial Tourism and Sports Offices in 32 provinces coordinated responses to 774 cases.
Ms. Airin further stated that, in order to coordinate and facilitate tourists effectively, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports has established five key guidelines for monitoring the situation and coordinating, which include collaboration with lodging establishments to provide rooms at special prices, reinforcing TAC staff at major airports, promoting accurate information from reliable sources, coordinating with relevant agencies for immediate issues, and integrating cooperation with government and private sector agencies.
"The government, through the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, confirms that Thailand is ready and capable of ensuring the safety of all tourists. We are also elevating our crisis management standards to build confidence and create a positive impression for tourists from around the world throughout their travels and stays in Thailand. Officials have been instructed to continuously monitor the situation to ensure close attention and care for tourists," Ms. Airin said.
