Ang thong: The Ang Thong Energy Office has taken legal action against a fuel wholesale company, following the discovery of incorrect transport invoices linked to a fuel depot in the province. The depot was found to contain over 300,000 liters of fuel without valid proof of purchase.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Kongkiat Kittikun, the Ang Thong Provincial Energy Officer, lodged a complaint with the Ang Thong City Police Station. This move came after the Consumer Protection Police Division received a report about inflated fuel prices at a gas station in Sing Buri Province. Investigations traced the fuel's origin to a depot in Ang Thong Province, leading to a police raid on March 19th. The raid uncovered more than 331,000 liters of fuel, valued at over 12 million baht, with the company initially failing to provide purchase evidence.
Further investigations revealed that the wholesale company acquired oil from the IRPC oil depot on seven occasions. Although the oil was supposed to be unloaded at the company's Bangkok location, or a specified destination on the transport manifest, it was instead delivered to a depot in Ang Thong Province. This action breaches the Fuel Oil Trading Act B.E. 2543 (2000), which could result in a penalty of up to one year in prison, a fine of up to 100,000 baht, or both.
The Ang Thong Provincial Energy Office assured the public of their commitment to transparency and accountability. They have set a deadline for the Ang Thong oil depot to submit the required documents. Failure to do so will result in an additional police report being filed against the depot.
