Aranyaprathet: Border patrol soldiers from the Aranyaprathet Task Force, Burapha Command, intercepted a drug smuggling ring and seized nearly 100,000 pills of date rape drugs as they attempted to cross the border illegally near Ban Noen Somboon, Khlong Nam Sai Subdistrict, Aranyaprathet District, Sa Kaeo Province.
According to Thai News Agency, officers from the 1206th Ranger Company, Aranyaprathet Task Force, Burapha Command, spotted two suspicious men carrying large sacks into the area of Ban Noen Somboon, Khlong Nam Sai Subdistrict, Aranyaprathet District, Sa Kaeo Province. Upon seeing the officers, the two men quickly abandoned the sacks and fled into the bushes. Using their knowledge of the terrain, they jumped into the Khlong Nam Sai canal, crossed over to Cambodia, and escaped rapidly.
Upon inspecting the sacks, authorities found 960 white and blue packaging boxes containing Alprazolam, a Schedule 2 psychotropic substance, totaling approximately 960 boxes or about 96,000 tablets.
Alprazolam, commonly known as the "date rape drug," is a sedative that causes severe drowsiness. Authorities have initially handed over all the confiscated items to the Aranyaprathet Customs checkpoint for further investigation into the source and legal action.
