Deputy Interior Minister Launches ‘Thai Helps Thai’ Initiative to Support Local Economy

Bangkok: Deputy Interior Minister Phonpeer visited Chakkarat District to inaugurate the "Thai Helps Thai" project, an initiative aimed at uniting local communities to provide a space for selling affordable goods to alleviate public hardship. He also directed local leaders to intensify efforts to combat vice and control air pollution for societal well-being.

According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Minister of Interior, Mr. Ponphir Suwannachawi, inspected and followed up on the implementation of government policies and key missions of the Ministry of Interior. During his visit to Chakkarat District, he delivered policy directives to government officials. Accompanying him were Mr. Anupong Suksomnit, Governor of Nakhon Ratchasima Province; Mr. Boontem Kalayapanich, Permanent Secretary of Nakhon Ratchasima Province; Mr. Worakorn Bungthong, Head of the Provincial Office; Lt. Col. Sompong Mansan, District Chief of Chakkarat, and other local officials, along with over 500 local residents.

General Peer expressed his honor in visiting the area to encourage village headmen, community leaders, and volunteer health workers, emphasizing their roles as key figures working alongside him. He assured the community of his commitment to collaborating with them to address pressing economic issues, such as rising commodity and energy prices. As a representative of the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Anutin Charnvirakul, he pledged to manage these challenges and reduce expenses for citizens.

The "Thai Helps Thai" project, he explained, supports the sale of affordable goods and integrates networks in local areas. This includes setting up booths every Friday in front of district offices and deploying mobile vendors to sell inexpensive goods in community areas. He urged community leaders to leverage social media and public address systems to effectively disseminate government directives and policies.

General Peer also highlighted the importance of maintaining peace and order, addressing issues such as registration fraud by the Chinese Tao group, illegal gambling dens, drug problems, and air pollution from burning activities. He warned that offenders and negligent officials would face decisive action, emphasizing the need for proactive measures to ensure citizen safety and reduce the financial burden on government relief efforts.

Mr. Polpeer encouraged local leaders to collaborate in solving problems and promoting well-being, which would allow the government to focus resources on improving citizens' quality of life. Subsequently, Mr. Polpeera Suwannachawi inaugurated the 'Thai Helps Thai' project, which aims to revitalize the grassroots economy by enabling local residents, community enterprises, and businesses to sell products at prices lower than the market rate. This initiative seeks to boost community-level economic activity, reduce expenses, and generate income for producers, thereby alleviating living costs and hardships sustainably.
