Thaksin Granted Parole, Reunites with Family Amid Jubilant Supporters

Bangkok: Thaksin has been granted parole and has returned to the embrace of his family. A joyful atmosphere filled the air in front of Klong Prem Prison as Thaksin was granted parole and returned to his family after being imprisoned for over eight months.

According to Thai News Agency, the atmosphere in front of Klong Prem Central Prison was filled with waiting Red Shirt supporters, Pheu Thai Party leaders, and the Shinawatra family, who had visited 61 times in total over the past months. After completing his prison term, Thaksin was granted parole and placed on probation. Emerging from prison in a white polo shirt, dark navy trousers, and white sneakers, he was greeted by his family. Thaksin embraced his youngest daughter, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, followed by his middle daughter, Pintongta Shinawatra, and his nephew, Chinwakkin Kunakornwong. He then hugged his eldest son, Panthongtae Shinawatra, and other family members. Paetongtarn was visibly emotional, while Nattiya Puangkhum, Panthongtae's wife, respectfully bowed to Thaksin. Supasek Amornchat, son of former Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, also embraced Thaksin, amid cheers from the Red Shirt group, who chanted support and presented red roses.

Later, Thaksin greeted the people along the iron fence, bowing and embracing some of his supporters. Despite reporters' attempts to question him about his feelings after the imprisonment, Thaksin only smiled and did not answer any questions.

At 8:00 AM, Thaksin, along with the Shinawatra family and key figures from the Pheu Thai Party, saluted the national flag at a roundabout in front of Klong Prem Central Prison before departing in a black Mercedes-Benz. Thaksin waved goodbye to supporters as the convoy left the prison, heading towards Ban Chan Song La, his place of parole and probation.

Prominent figures, including Dr. Prommin Lertsuriydet, Mr. Somsak Thepsutin, Mr. Jakrapob Penkhae, Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai, Mr. Chusak Sirinil, Mr. Nattawut Saikua, Mr. Anusorn Eiamsa-ard, and Ms. Jiraporn Sindhuphai, as well as Thaksin's classmates from Montfort College, class of 2508, were present to welcome him.
