Anutin Engages with CEOs to Bolster Thailand’s Economic Landscape

Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul has disclosed that he engaged in discussions with CEOs of major companies to incorporate their suggestions into building a strong economy. He emphasized the alignment of Chairman Dhanin Chearavanont's ideas with the government's vision of positioning Thailand as a leader in ASEAN food security. Anutin also announced plans to advance the construction of the Missing Link railway line to improve transportation capabilities with neighboring countries.

According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul shared insights from his discussions with top business entrepreneurs. The meeting, lasting two hours followed by a one-hour lunch, involved listening to opinions and suggestions, which Anutin plans to compile and use to formulate effective guidelines. He underscored the importance of these entrepreneurs in driving economic progress, maintaining social peace, creating jobs, and generating taxes, highlighting the necessity of collaboration between the government and the private sector.

Addressing concerns from the private sector, Anutin noted the need for improvements in transportation routes, logistics, and tariff barriers, especially regarding imports and exports. He cited Dhanin Chearavanont, Senior Chairman of the Charoen Pokphand Group, emphasizing the crucial need to improve the lives of Thai farmers amidst global challenges. Anutin reiterated Thailand's strength in food security, a key aspect he presented at the ASEAN Leaders' Meeting, stressing the country's ability to endure crises due to its robust food production capabilities.

When queried about infrastructural projects like the development of Ranong Port and the missing railway link between Chumphon and Ranong, Anutin confirmed their alignment with government policy. He acknowledged the necessity of addressing the missing railway link to complete Thailand's rail transportation network, thereby enhancing connections with neighboring countries. This initiative serves as a foundation for the larger land bridge project under study, with considerations of cost-effectiveness and its potential to establish Thailand as a transportation and economic hub.
