Thai Chamber of Commerce Proposes Strategic Reforms at Government Forum

Bangkok: The Thai Chamber of Commerce presented its proposals at the "Entrepreneurs Speak, Government Listens" forum. As Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul chaired a meeting at Government House with senior executives from leading private sector companies to gather feedback on enhancing economic competitiveness, Mr. Poj Aramwattananon, Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and the Federation of Thai Chambers of Commerce, highlighted three key issues.

According to Thai News Agency, the first proposal is the establishment of a National Anti-Corruption Committee. This committee, comprising representatives from all sectors including the private sector, would lead efforts to prevent and suppress corruption through a National Anti-Corruption Center (NAC). The aim is to tackle the chronic corruption that hinders Thailand's economic and social development, thereby demonstrating a clear commitment to action and enhancing Thailand's standing in the OECD.

The second proposal focuses on urgent reforms in the agricultural sector to boost productivity and income for over 30 million farmers and their families. This involves promoting technology and innovation across the agricultural value chain, from production and water management to marketing and value-added creation. The goal is to ensure stable and competitive incomes for Thai farmers in the long term.

The third proposal emphasizes actively promoting Thailand's trade and investment amidst changing geopolitics and geoeconomics. The proposal seeks to explore new opportunities and strengthen the country's long-term economic resilience by integrating efforts across multiple ministries and agencies, with the Prime Minister leading this initiative to ensure a unified and consistent direction.

Mr. Poj Aramwattananon commented on the significance of the forum, stating that it allows the government to listen to private sector opinions. He noted that the proposals are likely to be prioritized and implemented seriously to enhance Thailand's competitiveness.
