Metropolitan Police Commissioner Addresses Railway Crossing Safety in Bangkok

Bangkok: The Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Pol. Lt. Gen. Siam Boonsom, convened a crucial meeting involving 28 police stations with railway crossings, alongside relevant land and rail agencies, to address safety concerns following a recent train-bus collision at the Asoke-Din Daeng railway crossing.

According to Thai News Agency, the meeting aimed to establish comprehensive short-term, medium-term, and long-term safety measures. Key participants included agencies such as the Ministry of Transport, the State Railway of Thailand, the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority, and various other transportation and logistics bodies. The meeting brought together 28 police stations responsible for overseeing 58 railway crossings throughout Bangkok.

The Metropolitan Police Division 1 supervises 14 railway crossings, with specific assignments including the Nang Loeng Police Station, Dusit Police Station, Din Daeng Police Station, Phaya Thai Police Station, and Makkasan Police Station. Metropolitan Police Division 2 is accountable for 15 crossings, involving police stations like Tao Poon, Prachachuen, Don Mueang, Thung Song Hong, and Bang Sue.

Metropolitan Police Division 3 has jurisdiction over 4 railway crossings, including one under Lat Krabang Police Station. Division 4 manages 3 crossings, with Prawet and Huamark Police Stations overseeing them. Division 5 is responsible for 7 crossings, including those under Tha Ruea, Phra Khanong, Khlong Tan, Thung Maha Mek, and Lumphini Police Stations.

Division 7 oversees 6 railway crossings, with stations such as Taling Chan, Bangkok Noi, Thammasala, and Bang Phlat involved. Division 8 covers two crossings, managed by Talat Phlu and Bang Yi Ruea Police Stations. Lastly, Division 9 is responsible for 7 railway crossings, with involvement from Tha Kham, Bang Khun Thian, and Samae Dam Police Stations. Notably, Metropolitan Police Division 6 does not have any railway crossings under its jurisdiction.
