Pattaya: Authorities are investigating the cause of a major fire that tore through a luxury hotel in the resort city of Pattaya on Thursday night, leaving at least four to five people injured and forcing tourists to flee for their lives. The fire broke out at around 9:00 p.m. local time on Thursday at a hotel on Pattaya Third Road in Bang Lamung district, Chonburi province, according to local officials and emergency services.
According to Thai News Agency, footage shared online by disaster response group "Fire and Rescue Thailand" showed thick smoke billowing into the night sky as heavy flames engulfed parts of the building. Dozens of fire trucks and rescue workers rushed to the scene to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading.
While firefighters battled the flames, rescue teams entered the smoke-filled building to evacuate numerous guests, mostly tourists, who were trapped inside their rooms. The fire was brought under control by 11:00 p.m.
Local authorities reported that four to five people sustained injuries during the incident, but no fatalities have been confirmed. An investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway.
