World Number 2 Badminton Player Kulavut Vitidsarn Withdraws from Singapore Open Due to Injury

Singapore: "View" Kulavut Vitidsarn is preparing to fly back to Thailand for an MRI scan after withdrawing from a badminton tournament in Singapore. The world number 2 badminton player was forced to withdraw from the Singapore Open 2026 round of 16 match against Lakyah Sen of India due to a back injury, just two points into the game.

According to Thai News Agency, the team's medical and physiotherapist has recently updated on the player's injury, stating that he had been experiencing back stiffness before the match. However, during the actual competition, the forceful hitting movements caused immediate inflammation. Therefore, the coaching and medical team unanimously agreed that he should withdraw immediately to prevent further injury.

Kulavut will travel from Singapore back to Thailand immediately tonight and will undergo an MRI scan tomorrow (May 29, 2026) to thoroughly check the condition of his muscles and back structure before assessing his physical condition to determine if he will be ready to compete in the World Tour Super 1000 Indonesia Open 2026 next week.
