Narathiwat: Three senior police officers from Buketa Police Station have been transferred following the bombing of a patrol car. The Narathiwat Provincial Police Commander has ordered the immediate reassignment of the superintendent, deputy superintendent, and patrol officer to assist in duties at the Narathiwat Provincial Police Operations Center. This decision follows an incident where unknown assailants planted a bomb under a patrol car, causing severe damage to the vehicle in front of a mosque.
According to Thai News Agency, the unrest occurred on June 19th when an improvised explosive device (IED) was placed under a police patrol pickup truck belonging to Buketa Police Station in Waeng District, Narathiwat Province. The vehicle was parked in front of the Buketa Mosque when the explosion occurred, causing significant damage. Fortunately, no officers or civilians were injured or killed in the incident.
Police Major General Prayong Kotrasakha, Commander of the Narathiwat Provincial Police, signed an order for the reassignment of the police officers to ensure the efficient operation of police activities and to maximize benefits for the government. As a result, three police officers from Buketa Police Station have been reassigned to assist at the Narathiwat Provincial Police Operations Center, effectively relieving them of their previous command positions. The officers involved are Police Colonel Thavisak Sawasdiraksa, Superintendent; Police Lieutenant Colonel Supol Sukboon, Deputy Superintendent of Crime Prevention and Suppression; and Police Lieutenant Colonel Seera Abdullah, Crime Prevention and Suppression Inspector at Buketa Police Station.
The reassignment is effective from June 20, 2023, to September 30, or until further notice.
