Bangkok: A devastating fire at a brewery located on Ladprao Road in the Chom Phon Subdistrict, Chatuchak District, resulted in 27 deaths and 63 injuries. The fire, which erupted at approximately 11:40 PM on July 12th, has prompted an investigation to determine the exact cause. Initial findings by Bangkok Metropolitan Administration fire and rescue officials indicate the blaze may have been sparked by an electrical short circuit in an air conditioning unit. The Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Anutin Charnvirakul, along with relevant agencies, visited the site to oversee the investigation.
According to Thai News Agency, the Lat Phrao District Office has released the names of 10 confirmed victims from the tragic incident. The identified individuals are Ms. Nahathai Sachanalert, Nanaphin Pangsri, Mr. Phitsanu Taengsopa, Ms. Nipaporn Jamjaeng, Top Sarobol, Ms. Apinya Sukthongla, Mr. Phonepaseut Pounqppany, Ms. Atcharaporn Suthisin, Mr. Suwicha Sirililung, and Ms. Kanokthip Srisuk. Efforts are ongoing by forensic medical officers from the Police Hospital to identify the remaining victims. Families of the deceased are being contacted to collect the bodies for religious ceremonies at the Institute of Forensic Medicine, Police Hospital.
The tragedy has also affected members of the band Tosakan, who were performing at the venue. The band leader shared that Breeze, a singer in the band, has passed away, while the fate of Din, another male singer, remains unclear. Kwang, the keyboardist, has not been in touch, and Bew, the drummer, is in critical condition. The band leader urged people to refrain from sharing distressing posts, expressing hope for a miracle and gratitude for the public's concern. An update confirmed that Din is among the deceased, though there is hope for his recovery.
The pub's former owner, DJ Matum - Techin Ploypetch, was identified by netizens. DJ Matum commented on his personal Facebook page, acknowledging his past ownership and expressing gratitude to those who reached out. He clarified that he had returned his shares years ago and conveyed his condolences to the victims' families, expressing hope for a thorough investigation and no further incidents of wrongdoing.
