Bangkok: "Bas" Dechapol Puavaranukroh and "Fame" Supisara Piewsampran emerged victorious in a thrilling mixed doubles match against their fellow Thai competitors, "Em" Supak Chomkoh and "Mook" Oranicha Chongsthapornphan, at the Japan Open 2026. The pair advanced to the second round of the prestigious badminton tournament after defeating their opponents 2-0 with scores of 21-19 and 21-12.

According to Thai News Agency, the Japan Open 2026 is a significant event on the badminton calendar, classified as a World Tour Super 750 tournament. It boasts a substantial total prize pool of US$950,000, equivalent to approximately 32,300,000 baht. The first round matches, including the clash between the two Thai pairs, took place in Tokyo, Japan, on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.

The seasoned duo, Dechapol and Supisara, who are seeded 4th in the tournament and ranked 4th in the world, showcased their experience against the younger team of Supak and Oranicha, who hold the world ranking of 54. With this victory, Dechapol and Supisara are set to face the 20th-ranked pair from Chinese Taipei, Yang Po-hsuan and Wu Ling-fang, in the upcoming second round.
