Kim Jong Un Engages in High-Level Talks with Chinese Official

Pyongyang: North Korea's state television KRT reported today that Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un met with Wang Huning, China's fourth-highest official, in Pyongyang. A delegation from China, led by Wang Huning, arrived in Pyongyang on Wednesday at the invitation of North Korea. This meeting is the latest in a series of high-level exchanges between Beijing and Pyongyang, following Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to North Korea in June-the first in seven years-and reflects China's efforts to strengthen its influence over its traditional ally amid increasingly close ties between North Korea and Russia.

According to Thai News Agency, during their discussions, both Kim and Wang expressed a shared intention to promote and implement the agreements reached between the two countries during the Chinese President's visit. KRT television further reported that the Chinese and North Korean leaders agreed to expand cooperation in political, economic, and cultural fields, as well as strategic communication through exchanges of high-level officials from both sides.

In addition, North Korea's official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) revealed that the Chinese delegation led by Wang also visited the memorial to Chinese soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the Korean War, the Korean Workers' Party personnel training school, and the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, the resting place of former North Korean leaders Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.
