Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, displayed a harmonious front by accompanying Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Pipat Ratchakitprakarn and his wife, Natee Ratchakitprakarn, in a bid to mend any perceived rifts within the Cabinet. He assured that the Cabinet is working cohesively and expressed respect for constructive criticism while adhering to the judicial process.
According to Thai News Agency, the scene unfolded during a Buddhist merit-making ceremony, where Mr. Anutin, Mr. Pipat, and Deputy Prime Minister Songsak Thongsri were seen engaging in cheerful conversations. As they made their way back to Government House, Mr. Anutin humorously remarked to reporters about the camaraderie among them, referring to “2 N’s and 1 P’. N’ Natee and N’ Nu.”
In response to inquiries about whether his public appearance with Mr. Pipat was intended to address swirling rumors, both Mr. Pipat and Mr. Anutin chuckled, with Mr. Anutin adding, “Today is a Buddhist holy day.”
Addressing criticism about his relationships within the Cabinet, Mr. Anutin stated that he remains unfazed. He clarified that while he finds humor in the situation, it is crucial to note that all Cabinet members are dedicated to their roles, pushing forward various initiatives for national development. He highlighted efforts by Mr. Suchart Chomklin, the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, concerning the forest encroachment case in Phuket, and Mr. Pakorn Nilapraphan, Deputy Prime Minister, who is addressing legal interpretations to close loopholes that allow encroachment.
Mr. Anutin further emphasized that, as Deputy Prime Minister overseeing multiple ministries, the government is making smooth progress. Constructive criticism with good intentions for the country is not only welcomed but also acted upon. He underscored the importance of moving the country forward constructively and utilizing the judicial system for grievances, rather than relying on personal opinions or media narratives. The government, he concluded, is advancing in all dimensions, achieving progress and significant accomplishments.
