“Big Kong” Confirms War Elephants U23 Team’s Readiness for 20th Asian Games

Bangkok: "Big Kong," Dr. Kongsak Yodmani, Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), has confirmed the preparedness of the "War Elephants U23," Thailand's men's national football team, for the upcoming 20th Asian Games. The games are slated to take place from September 19th to October 4th, 2026, in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. He assured that all preparations have been meticulously completed with no areas of concern. Any necessary changes to the player lineup will adhere to established protocols, ensuring full support from the SAT, particularly in maintaining the athletes' physical fitness for optimal performance.

According to Thai News Agency, the men's football team will compete in the U-23 tournament, where Thailand has been placed in Group A alongside Japan, Kyrgyzstan, and Hong Kong. Facing the host nation, Japan, a recognized world-class team, presents a unique opportunity for the Thai team. Dr. Kongsak expressed confidence in Thailand's potential to advance beyond the first round and vie for progression into the tournament's later stages.
