Landslide Blocks Mae Sariang-Chiang Mai Road, Causing Traffic Standstill

Mae hong son: A landslide and toppled power poles have blocked the Mae Sariang-Chiang Mai road, causing continued traffic paralysis. Meanwhile, the Yuam River has overflowed into low-lying areas, prompting urgent evacuation of vulnerable groups.

According to Thai News Agency, Highway 108, the Mae Sariang-Chiang Mai route, is continuously paralyzed; all types of vehicles are unable to pass. A landslide in the early morning hours caused power poles to fall and block the road near the entrance to Wat Mae Lai Nuea in Sob Moei District, Mae Hong Son Province, resulting in significant traffic congestion.

As the Yuam River continues to rise, water overflows into low-lying areas. This morning, the water level at Nong Pa Khaem Bridge was measured at 3.10 meters, triggering intermittent flood warnings. The Mae Khong Subdistrict Administrative Organization (SAO) warned residents to move belongings to higher ground and urged the evacuation of vulnerable groups. Similarly, in Ban Pha Molo, Ban Kaat Subdistrict, Mae Sariang District, the Yuam River has already flooded some homes.
