Bangkok: Today, the court is scheduled to hear the verdict in the money laundering case of "The Icon." "Boss Paul" was brought to court, while the mother of Samart Jenchaichitvanich expressed confidence in a favorable outcome, citing a fortune teller's prediction.
According to Thai News Agency, the court is set to deliver its verdict in the money laundering and conspiracy case involving The Icon Group Co., Ltd., with a total amount of 2.5 million baht at stake. The defendants include Samart Jenchaichitvanich, a former deputy spokesperson of the Palang Pracharath Party; his mother, Wilawan Phutthasamrit; Waratpol Waratvorakul, known as Boss Paul, the former CEO of The Icon Group Co., Ltd.; and the company itself.
All defendants have pleaded not guilty. Mr. Samart and his mother have been granted bail, while Boss Paul remains in custody at Bangkok Special Prison. Mrs. Wilawan appeared in court dressed in white, symbolizing their innocence, and reiterated her faith in the judicial process. She shared that a horoscope reading predicted a victory for her and her son.
Mr. Samart commented that the financial evidence has been thoroughly clarified, and he is prepared to continue the legal battle if the verdict is not in their favor.
Boss Paul was brought from prison to attend the hearing. He appeared upbeat and conversed with Mr. Samart before the court session commenced.
The court informed both parties that the witness examination was complete and scheduled the verdict announcement for September 25th at 9:00 AM.
