Three Charges Filed Against “Sergeant Oh” for Fatal Shooting of Wife at School

Chonburi: Police have filed three charges against "Sergeant Oh" for fatally shooting his wife, a kindergarten teacher, at her school. The arrest followed an overnight siege and negotiations before he surrendered. The motive for the crime remains unclear, and police are continuing their investigation. According to Thai News Agency, the case involves Police Lieutenant Thasapong, also known as "Sergeant O," a police officer from Bang Lamung Police Station. He shot his wife, "Teacher Ple," inside Nong Pla Lai Municipal Kindergarten in Chonburi Province. After the incident, he fled to his home, where police surrounded the premises and engaged in negotiations. His son, serving in the South, flew in to aid the negotiations. Eventually, "Sergeant O" surrendered and was taken into custody for questioning at Bang Lamung Police Station. Pol. Col. Sarawut Nuchanart, Superintendent of Bang Lamung Police Station, reported that the operation concluded successfully without further injuries or fatalities. Investigators have charged "Sergeant O" with intentional homicide, carrying a firearm without a permit, and firing a gun without justification. The possibility of additional charges is under consideration as evidence is reviewed and legal processes are followed. Pol. Col. Sarawut mentioned that the motive for the crime is still under investigation, with initial indications pointing to family problems. Police are conducting interviews and gathering information from all parties involved to ascertain the exact cause. Regarding "Sergeant Oh's" past behavior, there have been no reports of issues in his professional duties or with colleagues, and no unusually aggressive behavior has been noted. The investigation will continue based on the evidence to unveil the facts and motives.
