Bangkok:Cyber police are moving forward with a request for a court warrant to arrest the administrator of the “Godd Dam” Facebook page. This action follows the posting of fake news regarding a fraudulent money transfer slip, which falsely alleged that the Prime Minister received a 7 million baht bribe. Anutin Charnvirakul has stated that the decision to sue the page administrator, known as “Ice,” will be made soon.
According to Thai News Agency, Police Lieutenant General Tinkorn Rangmat, Commander of the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB), reported that CCIB Unit 4 collected evidence from Phaholyothin Police Station and the Special Branch Police. This evidence includes past posts and bank statements that confirm the absence of any account for the fake transfer. The compiled evidence was presented in a request for an arrest warrant for the administrator, a political party member, of the “Godd Dam” Facebook page. Charges include importing false information into a computer system, which carries a prison sentence of five years or more.
Evidence is also being gathered against individuals who shared the posts, with their intent behind sharing being a crucial factor. The public is advised to be cautious and thoughtful before sharing information to prevent potential harm to themselves and others.
Anutin Charnvirakul, the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, addressed the legal proceedings against Ms. Rakchanok Srinok, a party-list MP of the People’s Party, who shared the fake payment slip. He emphasized that it is her right, and the public will soon learn the outcome. Anutin mentioned he was informed that the person responsible for the post is located in the Chonburi area.
Anutin also responded to the opposition’s call for swift investigations in other cases, stating he instructed the National Police Chief to expedite all incidents. He clarified that the case, supported by clear evidence, is unrelated to government administration but pertains to his personal right as a victim of defamation. He attributed the dissemination of false information to the government’s numerous achievements and contributions to the country.
