Khon Kaen:A pair of thieves, who reportedly hold superstitious beliefs, were caught on camera bowing and praying before breaking into an abandoned apartment in the heart of Khon Kaen city. The two suspects have been involved in multiple burglaries, sometimes even during the day. This pattern of crime led the frustrated apartment owner to alert the police, resulting in the thieves being caught in the act.
According to Thai News Agency, CCTV footage captured the two burglars, carrying backpacks, as they entered the apartment on Soi Sawasdee, which has been unoccupied for over five years. Before their entry, the thieves made a gesture of respect by clasping their hands together and then crawled under the door to gain access, taking items, including a CCTV camera. This incident occurred at 3 AM on October 27th.
In a recent event at 2 PM on November 4th, neighbors alerted the apartment owner of another break-in. The newly installed CCTV cameras documented the burglars crawling under and over the fence. The owner notified the Khon Kaen City Police Station, and officers found the two suspects equipped with tools, attempting to pry open wires and other materials in a third-floor room. Upon spotting the officers, the thieves tried to escape but were swiftly apprehended. Their backpacks contained various wires and small, stolen items. They were taken to the police station for further questioning and legal action.
Local residents expressed their fear, with one neighbor stating they were alerted by security cameras and reported the intrusion immediately to the apartment owner upon hearing suspicious noises. The frequent burglaries, both day and night, have raised concerns about safety in the area.
Nichapa Pongsananrakul, the apartment owner, shared her frustration, stating that due to poor management, she ceased apartment operations five years ago. Since then, the property has been targeted by burglars multiple times, with five incidents reported and even security cameras being stolen. She is considering selling the apartment due to the ongoing burglaries and the potential threat they pose to the local community.
