Bangsaen 42 Chonburi Marathon Sees Record-Breaking Performances from Oranong and Nattawut.

Bangsaen: The Bangsaen 42 Chonburi Marathon, a significant event on the World Athletics Elite Label circuit in Thailand, concluded its eighth edition with notable performances and record-breaking achievements. "Ornong" clinched the first position among Thai female runners, setting a new course record with a time of 2:52:30 hours. Meanwhile, "Natthawut" emerged victorious in his first championship, marking a remarkable debut in the Bangsaen 42 race. According to Thai News Agency, the marathon was graced by the presence of distinguished officials including Mr. Prachaya Unpetchwarakorn, Deputy Governor of Chonburi, and Mr. Witthaya Khunpluem, President of the Chonburi Provincial Administrative Organization. The event saw over 12,000 runners set off from the Bangsaen Heritage Hotel, making it a grand affair in Chonburi Province. The men's overall category was dominated by Kenyan runner Kalipus Lomwai, who completed the race in 2:19:03 hours. Fellow Kenyan Golfri Bergen followed closely in second place with a t ime of 2:19:12 hours, while Ethiopian Dametiu Deshaza Bayyene secured third place in 2:20:07 hours. The women's race saw Ethiopian Mehret Gemeda Rob take the lead, finishing in 2:42:18 hours, with her compatriots Tegist Bikila Demi and Ayanthu Kumela Tadetsse taking second and third places, respectively. Nattawut Innum, participating for the first time in the Bangsaen 42, led the Thai male category, clocking in at 2:32:41 hours. On the women's side, Oranong Wongson's record-breaking performance not only earned her the title of champion but also a special prize of 100,000 baht and an opportunity to compete in the Nagoya Women's Marathon in Japan. Race Director Mr. Rat Jirotwanichchakon expressed satisfaction with the event's outcomes, highlighting the improved running statistics and the enthusiasm of participants. He noted that the marathon has significantly boosted the local economy and provided substantial benefits to entrepreneurs in the region, fostering economic growth in Bangsaen and the surrounding ar eas.
