Bangkok: The Thai Army has dispatched a fourth shift of troops to assist with earthquake relief efforts in Myanmar, underscoring its leadership in regional humanitarian assistance. General Paiboon Voravanpreecha, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Royal Thai Army, led the deployment ceremony on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Military Airport 2, Wing 6, Don Mueang District, Bangkok. The deployment is part of "Operation Mandalay 82," aimed at supporting communities affected by the 8.2-magnitude earthquake that struck the Mandalay area on March 28. According to Thai News Agency, the personnel rotation included key officials such as Dr. Anek Mungomklang, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Disease Control, and Dr. Saritdet Charoenchai, Director of the Emergency Health Division. They, along with other specialists, coordinated the final logistical arrangements, including the delivery of military equipment and donated items to ensure the smooth continuation of relief efforts. The 4th task force of the Royal Thai Army comprises 24 members, including personnel from various divisions such as Control, Coordination, Communication and Public Relations, and Security. Alongside the 26 personnel from the 3rd shift, the total number of deployed personnel stands at 50. They are accompanied by a 30-member medical team from the Ministry of Public Health. The medical team is actively providing treatment to affected individuals, while the technical team from the Army Development Command works on repairing public buildings. An interpreter team from the Royal Thai Army Headquarters is facilitating communication between the Thai personnel and the Burmese community. This operation highlights the Thai Army's commitment to humanitarian efforts and international cooperation. The mission demonstrates the Royal Thai Army's capability and readiness to conduct international humanitarian assistance operations, emphasizing its role in mitigating the impacts of disasters and strengthening cross-border relations.
