Thai Airways’ Termination Deemed Lawful by Court

Bangkok: The court has ruled that the termination of employees by Thai Airways was a lawful act and constituted a just dismissal. This decision comes after some former employees filed a petition with the Central Bankruptcy Court, claiming that the airline unlawfully terminated their employment in 2021 and seeking to have the termination declared null and void.

According to Thai News Agency, Thai Airways confirmed its strict adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and rules, as required by its listing on the Stock Exchange of Thailand. The company stated that it fully complied with legal procedures for the termination of the employees in question, ensuring that compensation and benefits were paid in full according to the law. In cases of dispute, the company reported that it paid the amounts determined by the judgment without omission.

On April 25, 2025, Thai Airways filed a statement to the Central Bankruptcy Court, outlining that all disputes concerning employee terminations had been addressed by the Labor Court and the Supreme Court, which had direct and highest jurisdiction, respectively. In each instance, the company's position was upheld, with the courts affirming that the terminations were lawful and justified.

The company further explained to the Central Bankruptcy Court that the resubmission of the case by some former employees, despite a final decision already being made, was seen as a dishonest exercise of rights and constituted a duplicate lawsuit, which is not permitted under the law.
