Bangkok: The court granted bail to ‘Prayut Mahakitsiri’ and his associates in the case of issuing land title deeds overlapping forest land, with the condition that they do not leave the country. In the event of breach of bail, each person will be fined 1 million baht to prevent the defendants from fleeing.
According to Thai News Agency, after the court’s verdict on May 1, 2025, Mr. Prayut Mahagitsiri, a famous businessman, the 10th defendant in the offenses against official duties (supporters), the National Reserved Forests Act, B.E. 2507, the Forestry Act, B.E. 2484, and other defendants whom the Criminal Court for Corruption Cases, Region 3, sentenced all 6 defendants to prison, Mr. Prayut and the other defendants filed a request for temporary release during the appeal.
Later at 4:00 p.m. today (May 2), the Court of First Instance read the Appeal Court’s request for temporary release to the six defendants via video conference at Surin Central Prison.
The Court of Appeal considered the severity of the charges and the circumstances of the case and granted temporary release to defendants 1, 2, 5, 8-10 during the appeal.
In the event of breach of bail, each person will be fined 1 million baht. In order to prevent the defendants from fleeing, it is therefore appropriate for the defendants to post bail in the amount stated to the court. All 6 defendants are prohibited from leaving the country unless permitted by the court of first instance. The court of first instance must promptly notify the Immigration Bureau.
The reporter reported that all 6 defendants had brought additional bail to the court in addition to the original bail until it was full according to the Appeal Court’s order. The court has issued an order to release all defendants.
