Bangkok: The Prime Minister explained that the "Entertainment Complex" helps create money and jobs, following the Singapore model, creating man-made tourist attractions, creating responsible casinos, and having a giant indoor concert venue. He believes that Thai tourism will not have a low season.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, discussed the entertainment complex project on the program 'Thai Opportunity with Prime Minister Paethongtarn.' She emphasized that the project will attract new money from private investors, not relying on citizens' taxes. This foreign investment will enable the government to collect taxes, including those from casino patrons. The model adopted is akin to Singapore's, not solely focused on casinos like Las Vegas, but as a comprehensive venue for indoor concerts, addressing the current lack of large indoor concert venues in Thailand. The casinos will adhere to international standards, ensuring responsible gaming with stringent background checks for participants. The Prime Minister addressed misconceptions regarding potential negative impacts, asserting that the initiative is an opportunity to create jobs and maintain a year-round tourism season in Thailand.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the SML project, a decentralization initiative empowering local areas to address their unique challenges. By providing funds for community-identified projects, the government supports local development based on population. For instance, if a community needs a hay baler, the budget can facilitate its purchase. This approach exemplifies true decentralization, allowing villagers to propose projects for governmental support, enhancing public utilities and resources.
Additionally, the Prime Minister introduced the Odos Summer Camp, a program promoting educational opportunities abroad for youth. This initiative aims to expose young individuals to diverse cultures, facilitating a broader distribution of opportunities. The camp is accessible through a free app, inspiring participants to return and contribute to national development without any financial burden.
