“Bew Phuripol” Wins Silver Medal in 100m Asian Championships

Gumi: "Biew" Phuripol Boon-son, a Thai national runner, clinched a silver medal in the 100-meter race at the Asian Athletics Championships in South Korea, narrowly losing to the defending champion from Japan.

According to Thai News Agency, the 26th Asian Athletics Championships held in Gumi, South Korea, featured the men's 100-meter final with 8 athletes competing. Among them was "Biew" Phuripol Boonson, a 19-year-old Thai national runner, positioned in the 3rd lane wearing a blue jersey. He was up against Hiroki Yanagita, the defending champion from Japan, in the 4th lane. Both athletes maintained a close pace throughout the race, with Yanagita slightly ahead until the final stretch, where Phuripol accelerated impressively in the last 10 meters.

Ultimately, Yanagita secured the gold medal with a time of 10.194 seconds, while Phuripol earned the silver with 10.196 seconds. The bronze medal was awarded to Abdulla Abba Mohamed from Saudi Arabia, who completed the race in 10.30 seconds. Phuripol is set to compete in the men's 4x100-meter relay next on May 30.
