Bangkok: Abhisit Vejjajiva, the leader of the Democrat Party and a list-based Member of Parliament (MP), led a delegation of the party's MPs to report for duty at the Secretariat of the House of Representatives. This marked a significant step as they walked around the parliament building, humorously acknowledging themselves as newcomers. Abhisit noted that he had yet to receive an invitation to join the government, highlighting their current status in the political landscape.
According to Thai News Agency, the group included several prominent figures from the Democrat Party. Among them were Mr. Korn Chatikavanij, Ms. Kardee Leowpairoj, Mr. Sakoltee Phatthiyakul, Mr. Sathit Wongnongteuy, Ms. Radklao Suwannakiri-all list-based MPs-along with Mr. Juri Numkaew and Mr. Saksit Khaothong, who represent Songkhla Constituency 2 and 9, respectively, and Mr. Krittichai Pak-ichon from Trang Constituency 3. Mr. Chaichana Dejdecho, another list-based MP, also reported for duty today, despite having done so the previous day.
The event underscored the Democrat Party's readiness to take an active role in the parliament, even as they await further developments regarding potential inclusion in the government.
