Akara Backs Community Organization Council to Propel Local Initiatives Across Thailand

Bangkok: "Akara" is extending its support to the Community Organization Council throughout Thailand with the intention of promoting the "Public Organizations Near You" policy, focusing on addressing local issues and enhancing the quality of life for individuals across all age groups.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Akara Prompao, the Minister of Social Development and Human Security (MSDHS), recently participated in the 2025 national meeting of the Subdistrict Community Organization Council. During this event, he engaged with representatives from various provincial community organization councils, receiving policy proposals and suggestions aimed at resolving public concerns. The event was organized by the Community Organization Development Institute under the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security. Other notable attendees included Mr. Kantapong Rangsisawang, the Permanent Secretary of MSDHS, and Mr. Kritsada Somprasong, the Director of the Community Organization Development Institute, along with community leaders and representatives from civil society and relevant agencies.

Mr. Akara emphasized the implementation of the "MSD Near You" policy, designed to alleviate expenses, generate income, and enhance life quality, focusing on vulnerable groups, education, and career development. This policy is a significant step towards achieving social development goals, centered around family-first initiatives. It also includes linking social welfare rights, housing repairs, and social protection. Recently, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between four key ministries and three local government organization associations to integrate budgetary and collaborative efforts, aiming to improve the lives of people nationwide.

Mr. Akara highlighted the ministry's budget allocation to support vulnerable groups in areas like housing, enhancing the efforts of the Community Organization Council. He expressed optimism that the council's collective strength will effectively address local issues. Under his leadership, Mr. Akara plans to draft a new development plan spanning from one to ten years, based on local needs and concerns. He envisions the Community Organization Council as a crucial intermediary, reflecting local problems at the ministry level, which will then be addressed at the Cabinet meeting for budget allocation, ultimately improving the efficiency of addressing local issues.
