Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, along with his wife Ms. Thananon Miramis, led civil servants from the Ministry of Interior in a merit-making ceremony by offering alms to monks in honor of Her Majesty the Queen's birthday. This ceremony was conducted in advance as Mr. Anutin is scheduled to attend a disaster risk reduction conference in Geneva.
According to Thai News Agency, the ceremony took place at Wat Ratchabophit Sathit Maha Simaram Ratchaworawihan and involved offerings to 20 monks. The event was organized by the Ministry of Interior to dedicate merit to Her Majesty the Queen, as Mr. Anutin will be traveling to the 8th World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in Geneva, Switzerland, from June 2-6, 2025.
During the event, Mr. Anutin shared with Somdech Phra Mahawirawong, the secretary to the Supreme Patriarch, that he had an incident the previous day where he slipped and fell. This occurred while he was accompanying the Prime Minister to welcome His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen for a ceremony marking His Majesty's 6th cycle birthday anniversary on July 28, 2024, at the Grand Palace.
