Nakhon ratchasima: Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul is preparing to visit Air Force Base 1 to assess the readiness of the Air Force. He emphasized the importance of understanding military capabilities, stating, "The stronger we know, the more advantageous the negotiations will be." The Prime Minister clarified that his visit is not intended as a show of military strength and denied any plans to pilot an F-16 over border areas. According to Thai News Agency, Anutin addressed inquiries about his scheduled visit, stating that the military will brief him on security, training, and preparedness. He mentioned being unaware of specific plans involving flights. He expressed surprise at rumors of flying an F-16 to survey the Thai-Cambodian border, saying, "Wow, is that even possible?" Anutin highlighted the purpose of the visit as observing the implementation of government-approved military guidelines and budgets, which have been in place for over 10 months. Responding to whether the visit would demonstrate government power, Anutin insisted it was a routine briefing. He remained open to boarding an F-16 if it adhered to safety and regulations, indicating trust in the military's discretion. Anutin believes that demonstrating government support for military readiness can enhance Thailand's negotiation capabilities, not just with adversaries but in broader diplomatic contexts. When questioned about conducting an aerial border survey, Anutin reiterated his focus on the military briefing. He downplayed comparisons to previous prime ministers' visits to Indonesia, simply stating, "It was good," and laughed off further questions about receiving an equally grand welcome.
