Assailant Arrested for Fatal Stabbing of Sergeant Boy in Prachinburi

Prachinburi: The assailant who fatally stabbed Sergeant Major Amnat, known as "Sergeant Boy," has been apprehended following a four-day manhunt. The suspect, Mr. Panuwat, 39, also known as "Nok," was arrested by officers from Provincial Police Region 2 and Prachinburi Provincial Police after eluding capture by fleeing over 15 kilometers from the crime scene. He was found hiding in a row house in Dong Khilek Subdistrict, Mueang District, Prachinburi Province.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Panuwat has confessed to the murder, citing provocation as his reason for the attack. He claimed that Sergeant Boy had been slamming doors and spraying water on his car, actions that led to accumulated resentment. On the night before the incident, Mr. Panuwat admitted to consuming alcohol and three methamphetamine pills. The following morning, he attacked Sergeant Boy with a knife while the victim was cycling for exercise in Khok Mai Lai Subdistrict.

Further investigations revealed that Mr. Panuwat has a history of drug use and mental illness, refusing to take prescribed medication. His sister noted that he had been in and out of prison, having been released less than a year ago. During the arrest, police seized a blue Honda Wave motorcycle, a bloodstained knife, and clothing from the day of the crime.

Despite the confession, Mr. Panuwat has refused to apologize, maintaining that he was provoked by the victim. Reporters probing deeper into his motive heard him accuse the deceased of attempting to vandalize his car and harass him. However, when asked about expressing remorse to the victim's family, Mr. Panuwat remained silent for an extended period. Notably, he requested medical treatment for wounds on his fingers sustained during the incident, pleading with officers in a weakened voice for assistance.
