Bangkok and Yala Schools Reopen with Safety Measures in Place

Bangkok: Today marked the beginning of the new semester for many schools in Bangkok.

According to Thai News Agency, parents made sure to leave home early in the morning to send their children off to school amidst the bustling city. Schools in the Samsen area coordinated with traffic police to manage the pick-up and drop-off of students effectively. This coordination was necessary due to the ongoing construction of the Purple Line electric train, which has led to the closure of traffic lanes on Samsen Road, leaving only two lanes open. The main issue contributing to traffic congestion was identified as parents parking in the leftmost lane, prompting schools to designate this lane for parking during drop-off and pick-up times. Some students wore face masks as a precaution, given the recent spread of COVID-19 and influenza.

In Yala, all 210 elementary schools under the Office of the Primary Education Area of Yala Province opened simultaneously. Parents eagerly sent their children to school, where officials maintained strict security to ensure a safe environment. Schools and teachers worked closely with security teams to ensure safe travel for both teaching and returning home after school. Efforts were also made to prevent the spread of e-cigarettes and drugs, contributing to a cheerful and secure school reopening. Students expressed happiness at being able to see their friends again as schools resumed operations.
