Bangkok: The government invites you to celebrate Bangkok Pride on May 31st. The government is inviting Thais to participate in Bangkok Pride 2026 on May 31st, reaffirming the success of the equal marriage law and paving the way for Thailand to host World Pride 2030.
According to Thai News Agency, Lieutenant Colonel Patthadarasmi Thongslueykorn, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, stated that the government invites all citizens to be a part of the 'Bangkok Pride Festival 2026' on Sunday, May 31st. This year's event is held under the theme 'Patch the World with Pride,' marking a significant step forward in pushing Thailand to host the global 'World Pride 2030.' Over the years, the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (MSDHS) has worked closely with civil society networks to promote gender equality and support various activities through the Gender Equality Promotion Fund. This year, in addition to promoting and supporting the expansion of Pride Festivals nationwide, the MSDHS, in collaboration with Bangkok Pride, held a signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a pilot province network for gender equality (Pride City Network) in 58 provinces. This initiative aims to prepare and support Thailand's bid to host World Pr ide 2030.
This event demonstrates Thailand's spatial potential and readiness to welcome tourists and LGBTQ+ individuals from around the world, not just in Bangkok, but also by building networks at the local level to create positive long-term impacts on human rights and the LGBTQ+ economy. The Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister revealed that the government has always prioritized human rights, diversity, and equality, and has received cooperation from all sectors, resulting in the enactment of equal marriage law in Thailand. This year's 'Bangkok Pride Festival 2026' will feature a grand LGBTQ+ parade nearly 5 kilometers long, stretching from Khlong Chong Nonsi Park towards Silom and Rama 1 roads, as well as performances of Northeastern Thai folk culture. A highlight will be a performance by the legendary Mor Lam (traditional Northeastern Thai folk music) band 'Rabieb Wathasilp' on the Pride Stage at Thep Hatsadin Stadium.
